Vadim Epstein
Emet-Trading Solutions
Program(s) Developed: Emet-Trading Solutions
Interviewed by John F. Gallwas - Founder of Striker Securities
Vadim Epstein started as a software developer in 2003 and since 2009 has been actively working on trading system as manager of the Auto-Trading Department for Strategy Runner Server Side APL. Before Strategy Runner closed in 2012, this department developed about 300 projects for automated trading under his leadership. Seeing a continuing need for these special programming services, Mr. Epstein formed Emet-Trading-Solutions, located in Donetsk, Ukraine.
John Gallwas: When you were manager of the Auto-Trading Department at Strategy Runner, what types of system trading projects did your department develop?
Vadim Epstein: The projects we provided ranged from very simple systems based on one indicator to complex programs with a multitude of parameters and many indicators involved. The systems were designed for both the futures as well as the forex markets. John Gallwas: After Strategy Runner collapsed, you formed Emet-Trading-Solutions to provide software solutions to system developers and others. What is the profile of someone that might use your services now and how do you respond to their needs? Vadim Epstein: Our clients are traders interested in the markets with some computer operational capabilities, but little or no programming skills. They also realize that one of the keys to successful trading is controlling the human emotions which lead then to the concept of computerized trading. Our service is to automate their trading program so that the computer does the trading, without the trader giving up control of the trading system. We started by taking care of our Strategy Runner's clients, who needed conversion of their working strategy to new trading platform. We are now offering full-service programming for individual traders or organizations that want to automate their manual systems or to upgrade existing systems. John Gallwas: As you know, at Striker, we work with many 3rd party system developers and publish their actual performance daily. What services could you provide these professional developers who are already in business? Vadim Epstein: My guess is that very few of Striker's customers are professional programmers, but that some may have a trading concept that they would like to automate and test. In addition, there may be others with trading systems that should be updated to take advantage of changing market conditions or that need to be programmed for a new platform. John Gallwas: Based on your work with automated trading systems, what are the key features you have found necessary for a profitable automated program? Vadim Epstein: I think this question is more trader related rather than a programmer, as our task is to produce a program that automates trader’s strategy. However, we do believe one of the keys to success is automated trading, because the human element is removed and each trading signal is consistently followed. John Gallwas: Is there anything in the "What's New" that you would like to pass on to our readers Vadim Epstein: Our focus for the near term is to expand our existing service business, before we try anything new.
